Market Report 3 June 24

Welcome to Winter

  • Winter in the market often means supply shortages, poor equality from rough weather and higher prices as the Victorian market brings more stock from interstate but this year I’m pleased to say quality is excellent and supply is pretty good across most leafy vegetable lines.
  • A few lines like tomatoes and capsicums have been in short supply while we wait for Queensland production to kick in. With a slight increase to tomato and capsicum supply this week I expect to see prices comedown fairly quickly over the coming weeks
  • Winter Citrus season is in full swing with Cara Cara Oranges, Satsuma Mandarins, Imperial Mandarins, Kumquats and many more citrus lines adorning the shelves. Blood oranges and seville oranges should become available towards the end of June.
  • We have been lucky to have some great buys with abundant supply of mushrooms, zucchinis, leafy greens and shepherd avocados. We have enjoyed being in a position to pass these specials onto our customers to help keep the grocery budget under control.
  • Of particular note is the Shepard Avocadoes at just 0.89cents each and Swiss Flat Mushrooms at 10.95/kg this week
  • Finally, Keep an eye out on our social media feeds for our weekly specials.

Cheers, Dean
