Market Report 15 July 24

Winter is grinding on but generally fruit and veg supply has been pretty good.

  • This week however we have seen a few lines shorten in supply forcing prices up.  Beans, broccoli, broccolini, Tuscan Kale have all seen slight price rises.
  • Jap and butternut pumpkin have jumped in price as supply of old season Victorian stock have dried up. Grey pumpkin however still represents great value.
  • Still there is plenty of great value veg lines available at the moment.
  • Large Zucchini, small sweet potatoes and curly Kale are all great value at the moment and you will find them stacked high and well signed when you enter the shop.
  • Brussel sprouts have been the unsung hero being well priced and great quality.  If you like Brussel sprouts have you tried Kalettes? Kalettes are a cross between Kale and Brussel sprouts and they are delicious roasted or pan fried!
  • Citrus lines are super abundant and great value, make sure you try the Dekapon Mandarins (Sumo) and the Dolce black skinned navel oranges.  Also, just a reminder to get in and get your Seville oranges if you haven’t made your marmalade.  Sevilles will finish up in about a week.
  • Apples and pears are also great quality and excellent value. Why not try something new like our Cosmic Crisp apples or sweet Honey Pears (Winter Nellis).
  • Watch our socials for great specials throughout the week.

Cheers, Dean
